What We Do

As technology advances and becomes more embedded in our everyday lives, questions about ethics are becoming more frequent and insistent:

  • Is this technology contributing to the widening gap between rich and poor?
  • What is the impact of this product on the mental, physical, and spiritual health of individuals and society?
  • How does this innovation safeguard the privacy, security, and safety of its users?
  • What types of digital technologies reflect a community's vibrancy?
  • Is this technology being adopted in a way that is suited to our community's needs?
  • What forces drive our communities to utilize these technologies?
  • Tech companies are facing fundamental questions regarding the ethical aspect of the technologies they are designing and developing and how/whether their technology is building capacity and empowering humanity. However, unfortunately, most of such questions are being perceived as roadblocks to the advancement of the technology and being pushed back to be answered in the future.

The sole purpose of technology is to enhance human capabilities and capacities, and enable human ideals and aspirations to flourish. Similar to any tool, technology can be utilized in a constructive or destructive manner. Ethical technology is developing the capacity in every member of the global community including technology developers and users to make proper technological choices to promote responsible design, distribution and use of technology.

“… In this day the choicest fruit of the tree of knowledge is that which serveth the welfare of humanity and safeguardeth its interests."

The focus of our organization is on empowering those sections of society who have been generally excluded for different reasons from meaningfully participating in the advancement of technology to not only have access to technology but also build their capacity to contribute to its development. In a parallel process, our organization emphasizes on the role of the community and the tech companies within it to raise their awareness and contribute to find solutions, to promote a culture where such questions and conversations are not only being answered but also become an integral part of the tech world.

Justice and equity will be achieved in a society where every member and every community not only has access to technological innovation and the knowledge generated by it, but also the unique role of every member in the development of the technology and the generation of knowledge is recognized and valued. In such a society, every individual is given an opportunity to live to their highest potential.
